When Taiwan and China signed the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) in June 2010, it signaled an improvement in cross-Strait relations and the opportunity to boost trade between the two countries. However, there is much debate on whether the long-term impact of the agreement will strengthen the Taiwanese economy or make it more dependent on China.
