This theological drive has produced a culture that thrives on capitalism and breeds the type of grand strategy that elevated the two powers to the peak of international authority, unmatched by any other country across the globe. In his portrayal of the colonization of the world and the resulting clash of cultures, Mead illuminates the transformative journey that created the society in which we live today. He depicts the two nations both as heroes and as villains, presenting our global proceedings in a light that connects history, literature, philosophy and religion to further our understanding of current times.

Walter Russell Mead is the Henry A. Kissinger Senior Fellow in U.S. Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations. He has written articles for The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Esquire. His books include Power, Terror, Peace, and War and Special Providence, winner of the Lionel Gelber Award – one deemed by The Economist as “the world’s most important prize for nonfiction.”

- Registration for this event is now closed. -
A waiting list will be started at the event.
