Kip Tindell - Organization with Heart
Chairman & CEO, The Container Store

Wed, 22 May, 2013 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Kip Tindell

The Container Store has a hard-earned reputation for not only providing consumer-pleasing storage and organizational products but also for being a great place to work. This Dallas-based corporation has managed to expand from a single 1,600 square foot store to over 50 stores nationwide and now employs more than 3,500 employees. Since 1978, CEO and Chairman Kip Tindell has helped foster a company culture where the employee comes first so that, ultimately, the customer receives happy, friendly service. It’s no surprise, then, that The Container Store has been included on Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies To Work For” list for the past 14 years and currently ranks 16th. How did this small local business manage to expand into a multinational corporation? Do fair employee practices hold the key to a profitable business?

Kip Tindell is the CEO and Chairman of The Container Store as well as a proponent in the Conscious Capitalism movement. Tindell received the National Retail Federation’s 2010 Gold Medal Award, which honors key industry leaders for distinction in service and is regarded as the most coveted award in retail.
