Orit Gadiesh - True North: An Executive’s Guide to Culture as a Competitive Advantage
Chairman, Bain & Company

Wed, 8 May, 2013 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Anyone who thinks that management consulting is an all-American affair run by men wielding PowerPoint presentations and sharp elbows should meet Orit Gadiesh.” The Economist
Orit Gadiesh

As the first appointed female chairman at a large consulting firm, Orit Gadiesh has redefined how a large business can successfully function in modern times. When Bain & Company went through its turnaround in the 1990s, she stepped up and helped put the consulting firm back on the path of lasting growth and success. Throughout her career, Gadiesh has followed her principles of leading with character and integrity, applying what she calls a “True North” philosophy to corporate goals and practices.

Orit Gadiesh has embodied the concept of “True North” by remaining devoted to her own values that have persevered throughout the years. Born and raised in Israel with very little knowledge of the English language, Orit was accepted to Harvard Business School and graduated in the top 5% of her class. Though outnumbered by male colleagues throughout her professional career, she admits that she does not think about being a female leader, but rather a great leader. Today, Bain is the leading advisor to the private-equity industry and has received numerous acknowledgements as the best place to work. As chairman of Bain & Company, Ms. Gadiesh has worked with hundreds of CEOs and senior executives of major international companies on strategy development and the implementation of change within the corporation.
