International Visitor Program
Overview
The mission of the International Visitor Program is to help bridge cultures through person-to-person international exchanges.
The Council's International Visitor Program coordinates State Department-sponsored visits of high-level delegations and leaders from around the world. Working with an extensive team of local volunteers, businesses and community leaders, the program plays a key role in building public diplomacy and international connections for the region.
U.S. embassies abroad nominate emerging leaders in that country to participate in the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Program. Participants:
- meet their U.S. counterparts in business, education, media, arts and other community projects for professional exchange
- have the opportunity to visit with Americans in informal settings to gain a better understanding of U.S. culture
The International Visitor Program facilitates the exchange of ideas and knowledge. The visitors take with them an expanded understanding of how to enrich and develop their profession, and their American counterparts are given an expanded view of the cultures of the world.
