On behalf of all my colleagues of the Egyptian delegation, we thank all the members in the World Affairs Council. They did a great job with us, and we really appreciate their efforts. Words will not be enough to thank all of them. Egyptian Delegation Study Local Government 2012

International Visitor Program

Overview

The mission of the International Visitor Program is to help bridge cultures through person-to-person international exchanges.

The Council's International Visitor Program coordinates the U.S. State Department’s premier professional exchange program, the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Working with an extensive team of local volunteers, businesses and community leaders, the program plays a key role in building public diplomacy and international connections for the region.

The IVLP is an opportunity to experience American culture firsthand, cultivate lasting relationships, and inspire leadership to address global challenges. U.S. embassies abroad nominate emerging leaders in various countries to participate. Alumni of the IVLP include more than 300 current and former heads of state, and countless industry and civil leaders.

The International Visitor Program facilitates the exchange of ideas and knowledge. The visitors take with them an expanded understanding of how to enrich and develop their profession, and their American counterparts gain an expanded view of the cultures of the world.

2014 At-a-Glance

  • Participants traveled from a diverse set of 37 countries, including Afghanistan, Argentina, France, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
  • Participants visited 24 public and private schools in North Texas.
  • 7 volunteer projects engaged international visitors in the tradition of community service.

The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth is a proud member of the Global Ties U.S. network.
