This event was designed to promote cross-cultural understanding of this important country that straddles the European and Middle Eastern worlds. See the Educator's Resource web site created by the teachers who traveled to Turkey in 2008 and 2009.

The 2013 Portrait of Turkey Program included: a full day teacher’s workshop on Turkey on March 23 at Region 10 in Richardson, a study tour to Turkey and Consul of Turkey visits to area schools. The Turkey trip was from June 27-July 11, 2013.

The Vice Consul of Turkey, Abdullah Topçu, visited three DFW schools on  November 15, 2013 as the final stage of the 2013 Turkey program. He spoke to students in Fort Worth ISD, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, and the Episcopal School of Dallas.  In addition, he visited with school representatives during a Turkish lunch in Dallas.
