Noon Program & Luncheon
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek

With Italy’s general election slated for March 4, the nation’s voters are contending with a host of hot-button issues—including NATO, Brexit, the economy, and the influx of refugees and undocumented immigrants. More than 600,000 refugees fleeing civil war in Libya have poured into the country in the last few years—many rescued crossing the Mediterranean Sea and brought to Italian ports.

Armando Varricchio, Ambassador of Italy to the United States, will join the World Affairs Council just three days after his country’s election. A seasoned international diplomat who has represented Italy in Belgrade, Budapest, at the European Union in Brussels, and at the G7, G8 and G20 Summits, Varricchio understands all the nuances of Italy’s changing political landscape.
