With three well-chosen words—“the evil empire”—President Ronald Reagan cast the Soviet Union in the role of global villain; an arch enemy pushing the world to the brink of nuclear war. Years later, he walked the words back during a historic summit in Moscow when he met with General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev and addressed the Russian people directly. Despite the theatrical orations and high-drama diplomacy—or perhaps because of them—Reagan was a passionate catalyst for nuclear disarmament and the collapse of the Cold War.

Bret Baier, chronicles The Gipper’s largely forgotten May 1988 détente mission to Moscow in his new book— Three Days in Moscow: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of the Soviet Empire.

Baier is the Chief Political Anchor for Fox News Channel and the Anchor and Executive Editor of Special Report with Bret Baier. Before assuming his anchor post, Baier served as the network’s Chief White House correspondent and as National Security Correspondent based at the Pentagon. He is the best-selling author of Three Days in January: Dwight Eisenhower’s Final Mission and Special Heart: A Journey of Faith, Hope, Courage and Love

As Cold War tensions rise yet again, Baier’s exploration of this pivotal moment in Russian-U.S. history illuminates the critical and often misunderstood role every president plays in orchestrating diplomatic peace.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Baier weigh in on the latest headlines and provide his unique perspective on news from inside and outside of the beltway.
