Headed Toward Another Great Depression? (Institute for Policy Innovation)
Amity Shlaes Chair, Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation; King’s College

Thursday, June 4, 2020 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Time Zone: America/Chicago
Local Time: Thursday, June 4, 2020 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

How well is the federal government handling the Covid-19 crisis? Should we be concerned about the trillions of dollars Congress is spending? With the economy fallout from Covid-19 being compared to the Great Depression, can we learn any lessons from the government’s handling of the Great Depression and the New Deal to help us avoid making the same mistakes?

Please join the Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) on Thursday, June 4th for a special policy discussion on the Zoom platform with Amity Shlaes, author of four New York Times bestsellers: The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression, The Greedy Hand: How Taxes Drive Americans Crazy, Coolidge (a Biography), and The Forgotten Man graphic edition.

Amity Shlaes is an expert on the Great Depression and New Deal era, chair of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation, and a presidential scholar at the King’s College. She is a longtime friend of the Institute for Policy Innovation, and we’re sure to have a fascinating discussion.
