Members Only Discussion | 2020 Vision for U.S. - China Foreign Policy
Cecilia Joy-Pérez, Associate with Pointe Bello and Emily Weinstein, Research Analyst at Georgetown’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology

Wednesday, November 18, 2020 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Time Zone: America/Chicago
Local Time: Wednesday, November 18, 2020 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Since President Richard Nixon stepped off Air Force One in Peking (Beijing) in 1972, the world hasn’t been able to look away from the U.S.-China relationship, which has fluctuated from the optimism of the 1970s and 1980s to today’s great uncertainty and suspicion. China will be at the top of the U.S. presidential agenda in 2021 as contentious trade negotiations, China’s increasing pinpricks against Taiwan, cyber threats, and intellectual property theft continue to menace the relationship. On November 18, two experts will join us for a members-only roundtable discussion on the foreign policy and economic realities that affect what’s to come in the near future.

Cecilia Joy-Pérez is an associate with Pointe Bello and a scholar on China, its companies and economic engagements. Previously, she was a research associate in demographics and political economy at the American Enterprise Institute. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis, as well as a certificate in Chinese American studies from the Hopkins-Nanjing Center.

Emily Weinstein is a Research Analyst at Georgetown’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET), focused on Chinese innovation and domestic S&T policies and development. Before joining CSET, Emily was an Analyst at Pointe Bello, a strategic intelligence firm, where she conducted research on Chinese domestic and foreign policy. Emily holds an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Asian Studies from the University of Michigan.
