A conversation with AJC CEO David Harris

The American Jewish Committee is one of the oldest Jewish advocacy organizations in the United States and AJC Dallas has partnered with the World Affairs Council of Dallas Fort/Worth for over 20 years. The organization has been dubbed the “dean of American Jewish organizations” by the New York Times and its CEO, David Harris, was mentioned as the “foreign minister of the Jewish people” by Israel’s former president, Shimon Peres. In this event, Harris will discuss the challenges faced by the global Jewish community, drawing on career of over 30 years in international diplomacy.

Join the Council in this conversation with David Harris, moderated by Margot Carter, president and founder of Living Mountain Capital LLC, as we define antisemitism, discuss meaningful and actionable ways to combat it worldwide, and discuss the future for Jewish community in the Middle East and beyond.

 

About the Speaker:

David Harris headshotDavid Harris is the American Jewish Committee Chief Executive Officer Edward and Sandra Meyer Office of the CEO. He claims to be lifelong Jewish activist, and has testified in front the U.S. Congress, United Nations Commission on Human rights, and the French Parliament regarding the Middle East, NATO expansion, Russian and Soviet affairs, and anti-Semitism. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Harris received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and received a master’s degree from the London School of Economics. He was previously a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University and Oxford University.

Margot Carter headshotMargot Carter is the president and founder of Living Mountain Capital LLC, an investor and advisor for technology companies and private equity firms. She previously served on the Board of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth and was past president of AJC North Texas and currently serves on the Board of Governors of AJC. Most recently, Carter was named a Most Influential Director by Women Inc, 2020 Outstanding Director by the DBJ and 2020 Top 50 Future Innovator and Disruptor by D Magazine. She was also placed on D CEO’s 2021 and 2022 D500 “Most Powerful Business Leaders in North Texas” list. Carter holds a B.A. from Binghamton University, a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, and a certificate in AI from MIT’s Sloan School.
