In working directly with middle school, high schools and universities, the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth has encountered numerous educators devoted to enriching their students’ knowledge of world affairs and expanding international learning opportunities for their students. These teachers and administrators demonstrate leadership by going above and beyond their normal responsibilities.

Love your Enemies: Civility in Uncivil Times

                                   

Arthur Brooks has been the president of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) since 2009. Before joining AEI, Dr. Brooks was the Louis A. Bantle Professor of Business and Government in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, where he taught economics and social entrepreneurship. He is a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times and the bestselling author of 11 books on topics ranging from the role of government, fairness, economic opportunity, happiness, and the morality of free enterprise.


HONORING Wendy Seeliger- Dietschweiler

Lewisville High School - Harmon Campus

Ms. Wendy Seeliger-Dietschweiler, an educator at Lewisville High School - Harmon Campus, was recently honored as the Lewisville High School Teacher of the Year. Seeliger-Dietschweiler has been teaching for 22 years and has led as a JWAC sponsor for over 12 years. She previously served as a Peace Corps volunteer and taught English in China. When asked why she believed Ms. Seegiler-Dietschweiler deserved to be recognized as our 2019 International Educator of the Year, student Ester Nascimento said, “Ms. Seeliger... not only open[ed] my eyes to look at the world differently, but she has shown me how much I can contribute to the society at such a young age.”
