Time Zone: America/Chicago
Local Time: Friday, May 22, 2020 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

If you still think of big, interruptive events when you think of hacking, you’re behind the times. Cyber operations are not only a daily occurrence worldwide, but also rife with persistent, pervasive espionage. Ben Buchanan says it has become “a part of the way nations compete and project power.” He also says that the gap between the U.S. and other nations is narrowing every day.

Ben Buchanan is on the faculty of his alma mater, Georgetown University, where he specializes in cybersecurity, AI and statecraft in the university’s School of Foreign Service. He is also the Senior Faculty Fellow and Director of the CyberAI Project, a study of AI and international affairs, at Georgetown's Center for Security and Emerging Technology. Buchanan is the author of two books: “The Hacker and the State” and “The Cybersecurity Dilemma.” He received his Ph.D. in War Studies from King’s College London, where he was a Marshall Scholar.

Katy Montgomery serves as Exectuive Vice President for Corporate Affairs and communication supporting Cyber Defense Lab's mission to help clients idenitfy, mitigate and reduce cyber risks.
