Ezekiel Emanuel, M.D., an Obama Administration healthcare advisor and one of the architects of the 2010 Affordable Care Act, gives the United States’ health system failing grades as he compares it to the healthcare systems of Germany, France, Switzerland, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Taiwan and China in his latest book, “What Country Has the World’s Best Healthcare?”

Dr. Emanuel is Vice Provost for Global Initiatives and Chair of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress. Dr. Emanuel served as a Special Advisor on Health Policy to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and National Economic Council. He is the author of several books on healthcare. Dr. Emanuel received his B.A. from Amherst College, his M.Sc. from Oxford University’s Exeter College, and his M.D. and Ph.D. from Harvard. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the chair of the meta-council on the Future of Health Care Committee for the World Economic Forum.
