“This is about, what I like to think is, the Manhattan Project of this decade, which is the race to build a quantum computer… there is race underway between the United States and China to build such a computer.” ~ David Ignatius, on the inspiration for his new novel, The Quantum Spy

David Ignatius of the Washington Post has been a pundit powerhouse of page and screen for twenty-five years, but what propelled him into fiction writing? In 1983, Ignatius narrowly missed - by 30 minutes - the bombing of the American Embassy in Beirut. He says, "That's when I became a novelist. It was obvious the only way I could share this world of fact was through fiction. Otherwise, the story was impossible to write: it was too raw, and at that time genuinely dangerous."

Since 1987, he has published ten best-selling novels, the latest of which former CIA Director Leon Panetta calls "a real-life insight into the ongoing battle for dominance in the digital world."

We're counting the days until his appearance at our podium on November 29, to discuss not only his novel but to share his expert foreign and current affairs insights on breaking news and hotspots across the globe - from North Korea and China to Kurdistan, Iran, NATO, and even Hollywood.

We found a way to make an evening with David Ignatius even better: Register today and you will be entered to win one round-trip domestic flight on American Airlines!
