In a time of revolution, hearts and missions merge. That is the story of Alias Ruby Blade, this opening documentary for the Council's Human Rights FilmFocus 2014.

Key ingredients of fiction — intrigue, romance, revolution — emerge in this real life story of the birth of the nation of East Timor. Subtitled A Story of Love and Revolution, the film documents the adventure of Kirsty Sword, an Australian activist and documentary filmmaker who becomes an underground operative at a critical time. She evolves from being dedicated to the cause of resistance leader Kay Rala "Xanana" Gusmao to falling in love with him.

In the end, a nation emerges and lives are changed.
