To use an industry term, Gil Hoffman is a "working journalist." Israel television called him "the most optimistic man in Israel."

He is the chief political correspondent and analyst for The Jerusalem Post, "Israel's best-selling English daily and most-read English website." His recent topics range from routine inside politics and diplomacy to war, i.e., covering the funeral of an 18-year-old Israeli soldier, a member of the Operation Protective Edge force killed during an attack near the Gaza Strip. You can read his work on The Jerusalem Post website. Hoffman also serves as an analyst for CNN, Al Jazeera and other media.

An entertaining speaker with a quick wit, he is frequently in demand for appearances in the United States, generally discussing developments in Israel and Middle East relations. The Chicago-raised Hoffman is a 1999 magna cum laude graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. He and his family live in Jerusalem and he is a reserve soldier in the in the Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson Unit.
