David Rothkopf, the author and editor of Foreign Policy magazine, has examined the elements of power in several books. Now he has turned his analytical eye to the subject of how power has been used by the nation's leadership in the uncharted territory after 9/11.

His latest book, National Insecurity (American Leadership in an Age of Fear), looks behind-the-scenes with "extraordinary access" to those involved in the struggle. Rothkopf offers what is described as "an entirely new perspective into the hidden struggles, the surprising triumphs and the shocking failures of those charged with leading the United States through one of the most difficult periods in its history.

From his research and interviews with key players in this American drama, he writes of finding "unmistakable clues" to "help restore American leadership."

Rothkopf is CEO and Editor of FP Group which publishes the respected Foreign Policy magazine and online journalism. He also is president and CEO of Garten Rothkopf, a global advisory firm that consults in the areas of energy, security and emerging markets He is the author of Power, Inc.: The Epic Rivalry Between Big Business and Government-and the Reckoning That Lies Ahead (2012); Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They are Making (2008); and Running the World: The Inside Story of the National Security Council and the Architects of American Power (2006).

Among his career highlights, Rothkopf served as Acting U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade prior to becoming managing director of Kissinger Associates, the international advisory firm led by former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. He is a frequent contributor to major newspaper, online and broadcast outlets.
