Rebuilding America’s Military

Two men who have traveled different paths will join forces on Wednesday, January 13, to present a program about defending the nation, "Rebuilding America's Military."

The speakers for this special Contributors' Circle members-only program are General T. Michael "Buzz" Moseley, a fighter pilot who served as the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff 2005-2008, and Senator Jim Talent, an American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow and Director of the National Security 2020 Project at the Marilyn Ware Center for Security Studies.

Their discussion will examine the size of the U.S. military, the age of its equipment and arms and the readiness for a "large or long fight." They also will consider whether a decline in U.S. military power has affected "security and prosperity" in the nation, Europe and around the globe.

The next presidential administration, they believe, has the responsibility of long-range strategic planning to keep the nation safe.

General Moseley is a native of Grand Prairie, Texas. In 1971, he graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, then, in 1972, earned a Masters in Political Science from A&M. His Air Force career included not only combat missions but command positions abroad and in Washington, D.C.

Senator Talent, a native of Des Peres, Mo., served as a Republican congressman from Missouri 2002-2007. He has a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and a doctor of jurisprudence from the University of Chicago Law School.
