The Middle East: Through the Israeli Looking Glass
Neil Lazarus, Internationally Acclaimed Expert in the Fields of Middle East Politics

Thursday, November 3, 2016 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM

The Times of Jerusalem once headlined a story about Neil Lazarus with the label "Mr. Israel Advocacy."

Lazarus' website describes him as an "internationally acclaimed expert in the fields of Middle East politics, public diplomacy and effective communication training."

And it says he "has helped train a new generation of Israeli diplomats and spokespeople." Lazarus will address a 7:30 a.m. breakfast program on Thursday, November 3, at the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano. He is presented by the World Affairs Council in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas.

He is frequently called upon by media to comment on Israeli issues. For example, in 2013, when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not attend Nelson Mandela's memorial in South Africa, Lazarus wrote about it for The Times of Israel, declaring, "The anti-Israel lobby could not have wished for a better Christmas present. Today, many of the pro-Israel organizations are having to employ damage control as the government’s shortsightedness has led once again to a self-made public relations mess."

Earlier this year, Lazarus addressed the issue of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement challenging Israel at a seminar for young Jewish leaders. He told The Jerusalem Post, "If, at the end of the day, there will be peace between Israelis and Palestinians on a grassroots level, it has to come by dialogue and negotiation, and economic boycotts affect Palestinians as well as Israelis. We should be building bridges, not walls.”

On his website, he has posted a client list that includes: "The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Israeli Ministry of Tourism, Jewish Federations, JCRCs, Sky TV, Russian English TV, Keshet Television, Harvard University Extension Courses in Israel, Yad Vashem, Hillel, Hadassah, Birthright and The Jewish Agency of Israel, The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzalia, and many more."
