Stories of Refugee Resettlement in Dallas
Featuring the journeys of four incredible teenage refugees from Iran, Iraq, Sudan and Thailand

Friday, May 26, 2017 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Four young women - refugees from Iran, Iraq, Sudan and Thailand - will share their stories on Friday, May 26, when the World Affairs Council and Dallas' Emmett J. Conrad High School present a panel discussion with the goal of helping the greater Dallas/Fort Worth community understand the challenges American newcomers face. Conrad is one of the Dallas Independent School District's most ethnically diverse schools and also has one of the region's largest refugee populations.

This program will also feature a panel of community experts who will discuss the realities of transition and resettlement as well as the daily struggles refugees face when acclimating to their new homes. The discussion panel will include:

Dr. Feyi Obamehinti - Texas Advisory Council Member, U.S. Commission on Civil Rights
Ms. Liz Cedillo-Pereira - Director, Dallas Office of Welcoming Communities and Immigrant Affairs
Mr. Daley Ryan - Deputy Director, International Rescue Committee in Dallas
