Men have always outnumbered women in the financial industry, but the global recession created an even larger gender gap as more females quit or lost their jobs. Why do fewer women than men work on Wall Street? In an industry known for its lavish and “anything goes” culture, where does one draw the line?

In the tradition of Michael Lewis's Liar's Poker, Nina Godiwalla offers a behind-the-scenes look at the recklessness that ruled Wall Street during the dot-com boom days. Showered with Broadway tickets and ferried around in sleek, black town cars, Morgan Stanley recruits led a fast and flashy lifestyle, but at a steep cost. Godiwalla worked harder, longer hours than her male peers to prove her worth, but to whom? Suits tells the story her time on Wall Street and the family she left behind. A vibrant snapshot of an immigrant family with big dreams, Suits reveals how much we've been conditioned to trade for success.

Nina Godiwalla received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and her MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Originally from a Persian-Indian immigrant community in Houston, she worked for Johnson & Johnson and Morgan Stanley. She speaks nationally on leadership and diversity in the workplace and has been featured in several major publications including USA Today, ABC News and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Godiwalla will also be speaking at an event with the Council’s Meridian: Global Young Professionals membership on Wednesday, April 13. Please click here for more information.
