The slowdown in the world economy since the second quarter confirms our view that the recovery from the global financial crisis will be slow and faltering, with the risk of a double-dip recession. Concerns persist about the viability of the eurozone without deeper fiscal integration. In the U.S. the lack of political consensus is preventing the policies needed to put in place a recovery and address long-term worries about fiscal sustainability. Most of the emerging world came through the 2008-09 crisis and recession better than might have been expected. But would it be able to pull off the same trick this time?

Join John Bowler, director of the Economist Intelligence Unit's Country Risk Service, and Jim Falk, president and CEO of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, for Global I.Q. with The Economist as they discuss these topics and other business risks and opportunities around the world.
