Join fellow Meridian: Global Young Professional members in their 20s and 30s at this Wall Street themed happy hour event featuring Nina Godiwalla, author of Suits: A Woman on Wall Street. Originally from a Persian-Indian immigrant community in Houston, Nina’s fierce ambition led her to the trading floor of New York. She soon discovered that the fast and flashy lifestyle of a banker came at a steep cost for someone who didn’t quite fit the mold.
Whether your profession is in finance or another industry, if you share our curiosity of Wall Street pre-financial crisis, are interested in the factors that drive power hungry and successful bankers or are looking for an opportunity to meet interesting people over a glass of wine after work, this is the event for you. Mix and mingle with Ms. Godiwalla, World Affairs Council Meridian: Global Young Professionals and member of the 85Broads, Dallas Chapter at Times Ten Cellars in Lakewood. Wine and appetizers will be served starting at 6:00 PM.
Nina Godiwalla has written for The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Houston Chronicle. She writes about business issues for Wharton Magazine. Before founding MindWorks, which provides stress management and meditation training to corporations and other professional organizations, she spent almost a decade working for Fortune 500 corporations including Morgan Stanley and Johnson & Johnson. She speaks nationally on leadership and diversity in the workplace and has been featured in several major publications including USA Today, ABC News, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Nina has an MBA from Wharton School of Business, a MA focused in Creative Writing from Dartmouth, and a BBA from University of Texas. She currently lives in Austin, TX.
