Close up map of Africa that reads "Sudan" and various cities in Sudan

Following the outbreak of armed conflict in Sudan on April 15, 2023, large numbers of civilians were forced to flee, including already internally displaced persons because of previous conflicts in Sudan and refugees seeking safety in Sudan. Thousands of people, including national and nonnational Sudanese refugees have fled to neighboring countries. Join our student led discussion to reflect on the impact of the Sudanese conflict on our global community.

Annually, the Council’s Global Young Leaders program hosts leadership trainings for North Texas high school students participating in Junior World Affairs Council (JWAC) clubs. The top ten JWACs hold student-led discussions over a current event topic monthly. Each session focuses on a different topic related to one or more of the education program’s four pillars of global competence: diplomatic leadership, civic engagement, problem-solving, and cultural intelligence. Students plan and execute the event with the help of the Council, and in turn, gain first-hand leadership experience.
