Susan Eisenhower, consultant, author, and a Washington, DC-based policy strategist

Thursday, October 15, 2020 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Time Zone: America/Chicago
Local Time: Thursday, October 15, 2020 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

As Allied Commander, Dwight D. Eisenhower’s granddaughter says, “He had the courage to look his men in the eyes as he made decisions that would seal their fates.” As Commander in Chief, “He was a genius at knowing when to deploy his ego and when to suppress it… brilliant at knowing when to take his foot off the pedal and when to hit it hard.” In politics, Ike believe in what he called “the Middle Way,” and sought unity by allowing contenders on both sides of an issue to feel as if they had been victorious. Susan Eisenhower sheds light on the character, discipline, humility and tenacity of the 34th President of the United States for our American Leadership series.

Susan Eisenhower is consultant, author and Washington, DC-based policy strategist with many decades of work on national security issues. She is CEO and Chairman of The Eisenhower Group, Chairman Emeritus at the Eisenhower Institute of Gettysburg College, co-Chairman of the Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board, and serves on MIT’s Energy Initiative Advisory Board. Eisenhower was appointed to the National Academy of Sciences Standing Committee on International Security and Arms Control.
