Members Only: Studying the World with a Camera—from the Grand Canyon to the World’s Most Quiet Places
Pete McBride, Award-winning photographer, filmmaker, writer, and public speaker

Thursday, September 23, 2021 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Time Zone: America/Chicago
Local Time: Thursday, September 23, 2021 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Without published photography and dedicated documentation, much of the natural world would be unfamiliar territory. Thanks to Pete McBride, we have insight to the world’s waterways in a way never known before. He grew up with the Colorado River in his backyard, but after an assignment to paddle the entirety from source-to-sea, he understood its environmental significance. When he found that the river dried up short of reaching the ocean, he published a book, three award-winning documentaries, and co-hosted a TV program to bring attention to it. With determination, Pete has travelled the world with his camera, earning the title “Freshwater Hero” as he did the same for other river systems and environments.

McBride has spent two decades studying the world, focused on freshwater issues, and travelled to 75 countries on assignment for organizations like the National Geographic Society, Smithsonian, Google, and The Nature Conservatory. Most recently, he hiked and rafted the length of the Grand Canyon (750 miles), documenting the current state of the ever-changing landscape and the challenges it faces. His book, “Grand Canyon; Between River and Rim,” and documentary, “Into the Grand Canyon,” earned both acclaim and awards as a result of that journey. He has established himself as a photographer, filmmaker, writer, and public speaker. He has spoken at TEDx, The World Economic Forum, USAID, and Nat Geo Live.

The first 20 members to register will receive one complimentary copy of either Grand Canyon or September release—Seeing Silence. An email will be sent to the first 20 members confirming they will receive a complimentary book.
