About the BookCalled “the best spy novel I have ever read” by General David Petraeus, former CIA director and former commander of US Central Command, Damascus Station is a gripping depiction of the Syrian capital amid the country’s brutal, and still-ongoing, civil war. Written by a former CIA analyst who witnessed the early years of the conflict firsthand, Damascus Station offers a well-informed, but fictional, account of a CIA officer and his Syrian recruit as they navigate the tumultuous political landscape of the crumbling Middle Eastern capital. This spy thriller serves as an example of what it’s like to conduct real-life espionage, while simultaneously wading through the complex emotions we all face as human beings.
