Berthe Morisot was a French Impressionist painter who portrayed a wide range of subjects—from landscapes and still lifes to domestic scenes and portraits. Associated with Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, and Degas, she was included in seven of the eight Impressionist group exhibitions held between 1874 and 1886. “Berthe Morisot, Woman Impressionist,” is the first dedicated presentation of the artists’ work to be held in the U.S. in 30 years. This once-in-a-lifetime exhibit is co-organized by the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Barnes Foundation (Philadelphia), the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Musée d’Orsay, Paris. It will feature 70 of Morisot’s paintings focusing on the artist’s treatment of the modern figure.
