Council members have a splendid opportunity to see cinema accomplishments from other nations when we partner with the Dallas/Fort Worth South Asian Film Festival Friday, March 3, through Sunday, March 5.
The World Affairs Council even has a role in the Festival. On opening night Council President and film fan Jim Falk moderates a question and answer session with the producer and director of A Billion Colour Story.
A Billion Colour Story, a 2016 film from India, focuses on revitalizing hope because "the fundamental goodness of humanity is still intact."
You'll also see a short, A Yellow Tin Can, a 14-minute film from India. It's a "quirky love story of a girl who lives in silence and a boy who lives in black and white."
This Friday evening event at the Perot Museum is more than just a movie, however. To attend the opening night reception and see the film, tickets are $20. For the reception, the film and the after-party, the tickets are $75 each. The reception begins at 6 p.m., the film at 7 p.m. and the afterparty at 9:30 p.m.
On Sunday afternoon, at the AMC /Village on the Parkway 9 in Addison, the Council and the Festival partner to present The Journey Within, described as "a documentary that shows the development of an international musical show to unite post 9/11 Pakistan."
The film starts at 1:15 p.m. and afterward there is a Q&A session with the director. Tickets to this film are $15 each.
