We are happy to announce the election of new directors to our board of directors: Aimee Burnett of Lockheed Martin, Jenna Hunt Frazier of Raytheon, David Jacobs, Susanne Shalley of Grant Thornton LLP, Andrea Strickland of KPMG, Rick Welday of AT&T, and Kristi Sherrill Hoyl of Baylor Scott & White Health. Three directors will serve second terms on the board: Brendan McGuire, Allison Payne, and Gary Wolens. Officers elected include Brendan McGuire (chair), Peter Loh (vice chair), Larry Pascal (vice chair), Chris Hughes (treasurer), and Joanna Ridgway (secretary). We are grateful for their commitment to public diplomacy.

International relations degrees can prepare young professionals for a plethora of careers in business, law, education, media, or journalism. Are you interested in careers that can take you abroad? Join the Council and our Meridian Young Professionals group to hear from intelligence and counterterrorism expert Aaron Danis and retired foreign service officer Ramona Harper to learn more about careers in international relations.

About the Speakers:

Aaron Danis HeadshotAaron Danis is a professor and a career and counterterrorism specialist at the Institute of World Politics in Washington DC. Danis holds a bachelor’s degree in military studies and a Master’s in Security Policy Studies. Danis is a retired U.S. Army Intelligence officer from the U.S. government after serving as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) faculty chair to the National Intelligence University while it transitioned from the Defense Intelligence Agency to ODNI. Previously, he served in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. Coast Guard Intelligence, the Treasury Department, the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission, The National Counterterrorism Center, and the National Defense University.

Ramona Harper HeadshotRamona Harper is a retired Senior Foreign Service Officer of the U.S. Department of State specializing in public diplomacy. She holds a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education from Florida International University and a Master of Science degree from the National Defense University. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Harper was an academic counselor and administrator in higher education. She has served overseas in Senegal, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Panama, and Germany. She is multilingual speaking French, Spanish, and German. After retiring, Harper recruited for the Foreign Service and Civil Service in the Bureau of Human Resources of the State Department. She is also a liaison with the International Visitors Leadership Program.
