This week at the Council, our programs department is busy with three different programs. On Monday, diplomat and author Bob Satawake will speak on his new book, "Breaking Protocol." With remarks by Admiral Joseph W. Prueher

Admiral Joseph W. Prueher served as Ambassador to the People's Republic of China from 1999 to 2001. As Chief of the United States mission in China, he served two Presidents and was responsible for directing, coordinating and managing the activities of all U.S. Executive Branch activities in China. Admiral Prueher completed thirty-five years of distinguished service in the United States Navy in May 1999. From February 1996 until then, he was the 17th Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command (CINCPAC).

An exclusive tour for our guests on a closed day, given by Col. William Davis, Foundation Executive Director, and Christopher Kolakowski, Memorial Director, including the special exhibit “The MacArthurs in the Far East,” museum highlights, and a peek into the archives.

6:30 PM                 Whiskey Tasting at the Tarnished Truth Distilling Company 

Tarnished Truth Distilling Company (located in The Cavalier) offers a portfolio of great tasting spirits within its tasting room and its rustic tavern, The Hunt Room, where guests relax and sip distilled spirits fireside in the charming ambiance of the tasting room. The distinctively-styled distillery is where the ancient process of barrel aging fine libations is brought to life in handcrafted copper & brass equipment.

Jim will be taking an Uber to his favorite casual seaside restaurant, Dockside (3311 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach). A family restaurant, on any given day you’ll find locals gathered in the dining room or outdoor picnic tables for peel and eat shrimp, raw oysters, fresh catch specials, and according to Jim, the world’s best crab cakes.

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1

Guests who will go on to the airport from the Naval Base will check out of the hotel. The shuttle will not return to The Cavalier.
