A recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Medal of Liberty, Dr. Henry A. Kissinger needs no introduction. A political scientist who served as National Security Advisor and later concurrently as Secretary of State in the administrations of Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, Dr. Kissinger played a prominent role in United States foreign policy. While he has numerous diplomatic achievements, he is most known for pioneering the policy of détente with the Soviet Union leading to a softening of tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, formalizing relations with China ending 23 years of diplomatic isolation and negotiating the end to the Yom Kippur War and the cease-fire agreement to the Vietnam War.
At present, Dr. Kissinger is chairman of Kissinger Associates, Inc., an international consulting firm, and is a member of many boards.
