ex officio for Global North Texas

Grant Sisk holds a Ph.D. in Modern American Literature and has been a higher education professional for over 25 years in both faculty and administrative roles.

Previously, as a board member of Global Ties North Texas, he was active in the US Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and programmed visits for people from all over the world that the department had identified as noteworthy. Depending on the specific program, these individuals interact with leaders of industry, higher education professionals, religious leaders, members of government, NGOs and other organizations as appropriate to study a variety of subjects such as women’s rights and leadership, under-represented communities, conservation, the rule of law, religious freedom, healthcare, governance, STEM and many other fields. He currently serves on the IVLP committee for WAC.

Before assuming his administrative duties at the college, he taught American Literature, World Literature, Creative Writing, Composition and other courses at the university level and has numerous publications in both critical and creative writing. Prior to COVID he travelled once a year Vietnam to conduct workshops on writing, teaching, and the creation of bi and multi-lateral international program development with US colleges and universities. In 2017, he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to Russia, to explore ideas, share best practices and create international partnerships with institutions of higher education there.

Currently, he teaches at Dallas College and is working with two universities in Vietnam to create a series of transfer and international engagement partnerships.

In his spare time, Grant enjoys time with family and pets, international and domestic travel, reading, writing essays and short stories, riding his horses, blacksmithing, camping and in general anything that keeps him outdoors.
