Global Classroom Educator workshop

The Global Classroom Workshop is a three-day intensive educator training which aims to provide a global component to current curriculum. Participants will hear from a variety of presenters who represent educational organizations that provide complimentary international resources to educators. Teachers will learn about National Geographic lessons, dozens of education websites, MENSA gifted & talented hands on strategies, Population Connection materials, Asia Society materials and much more! In today’s globalized world, an effective domestic education agenda must address global needs and trends and aim to develop a globally competent citizenry. It is no longer enough to focus solely on ensuring that students have essential reading, writing, mathematics, and science skills. Seating for 75 teachers. Open to 3rd -12th grade teachers of all subjects that want to infuse more global elements in their courses. The June event provides SS credit, three ethnic meals and materials at NO COST.

ISD’s with $10,000 Educational Associate Memberships that would like to hold smaller portions of this training led by WAC staff have a few options:

  1. A one-hour introduction to culture using Peace Corps training materials. This will help teachers “See” the American culture and better understand other cultures in their classes.
  2. A one-hour introduction to the need for global competency in the 21st century and all the free programs WAC provides to address this need.
  3. A one-DAY workshop that is a MINI- version of the three day Global Classroom. (No food provided)
