VOLUNTEER WITH IVP
Are you interested in meeting people from all over the world? Practice your favorite language, share international cuisine, or discuss global trends without ever leaving Dallas/ Fort Worth! Make lasting memories with participants in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and other international exchange programs.
Whether you are a seasoned international traveler or someone who is curious to learn about the world, we encourage you to become a member and join our volunteer email list by completing our online application.
TEXAS TRADITION MEETS GLOBAL DIVERSITY
Cowboys. Rodeos. Football. Tex Mex. Big hair. Big dreams. These are just a few reasons international visitors love visiting Texas. But as one of our recent visitors mentioned, “Texas is not just about cowboys; there’s more to it.”
Help show international visitors what Texas is all about by sharing your story. While our offices are located in Dallas, we have volunteers across the metropolitan area that host visitors, exchange ideas and best practices, attend unique cultural activities, and make valuable connections.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There are many possible roles for members to engage with visitors and support the IVP. Volunteer opportunities are an exclusive benefit to our members. Opportunities include, but are not limited to, the following positions:
- Dinner Party Host: Volunteers open their homes to visiting delegations for an evening meal and fun conversation. Groups are often split into smaller groups of 3-4 people and are accompanied by an interpreter.
- Home Hosts: Volunteers welcome one or more participants on a short-term exchange program into their home for a period of 1-2 weeks. Learn more about home hosting.
- Professional Resources: Volunteers meet with delegations to discuss their knowledge and expertise concerning a career field or industry. Our staff is always interested in developing new skill areas to share with the international participants, and we would be delighted to hear from you.
